Abe Woodrum, aged 69 years, 8 months and 14 days died at his home on East Main street at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 6,1934 following a year's illness to do carcinoma of the jaw. Mr. Woodrum was born November 19, 1865 at Liberty, Kentucky, the son of James and Mary Woodrum and came to Illinois when 18 years of age. He engaged in farming, residing on a farm near Tallula, and was an ardent worker until ill health caused him to limit his activities and he moved to Tallula and rented small plots of ground and did farming on a limited scale. Live stock and tilling of the soil were his life's work. On January 23, 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Sallie B. Lowe of Merrimac, KY. To this union were born six children, Mrs. Clarence Stier of Petersburg, Arthur Woodum of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Earl Parsons, Mrs. William Bryant and Louie Woodrum of Tallula and William S. of Ashland who with their mother are left to mourn his death. Besides the aforementioned he is survived by one brother, Berry Woodrum of Tallula and two half brothers, Ben of Petersburg and Edward of Sherman. One sister, Mrs. Robert Eades of Colorado, preceded him in death.
