Emerson.
Two funeral sermons were preached at this place Saturday morning. One by Rev. Hedges at the Christian church over the remains of Mrs. Charles Martin, who died at the home of her father Ed Shurmate, after a lingering illness of consumption on Thursday at 3 p.m. She had expressed a readiness to go when the summons came.
Mrs. Cora Yarbrough also died of the same disease at her home early Friday morning. Rev, Ingman of LaGrange held the funeral services at the Baptist church, of which she had been a consistent member for some time. She leaves a husband and two little girls and other relatives to mourn her loss. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved of both families.
