Grampa died when I was not quite 5 years old, but I remember him as a very nice man. I remember once asking him if I could have some ice cream and he instructed me that I should never ask in someone else's home, but should wait to be invited to share something. I never asked again, but he invited me lots of times.
I also remember he used to send me for the ice cream which was kept in a refrigerator that had the freezer on the bottom - thus, I could reach it.
Another memory I have of him is weighing and sorting eggs at the dining room table. I can remember him inspecting them, weighing them and sorting them out for size with a little scale.
He fell into a creek in the winter time. He ended up contractinging pheumonia and dying a short time later. I remember my father always speaking very fondly of Grampa also.
