Notes by Brenda Behen Hartley, niece:
Tall and thin all of her life.
Joyce had a terrific sense of humor and laughed often. I spent so much time at their house, it was my second home. Joyce worked 2nd shift at Delevan Electronics in E. Aurora. Many was the night that she'd come home to a marathon Monoply game going on at her kitchen table. She was usually looking for cookies, and we'd usually eaten them all up! You see, I thought they must have been rich because they could afford "store bought" cookies, where we poor relation could only afford home made.

I spent almost every Friday night at their house because she let me stay up and watch "Friday Night Fright Night" on Television, where as my parents did not. When I mentioned this one time, she said "In my house, you follow my rules...."

There was so much laughter in that house, it made my sides hurt at times...

Cause of Death: Lung damage due to auto accident.

She hit a tree head on when another car pulled directly in front of her and she veered to avoid possibly killing the offending driver. She was in hospital a couple of weeks, but could not recover.
