Flora Elizabeth Culpepper, the only daughter of Joseph A. and Sarah Culpepper, was born February 1, 1892 near Montier, Missouri, and departed this life on January 6, 1982 in California at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 5 days. She was converted and became a member of the Methodist Church when she was 11 years old, and remained a faithful Christian the rest of her life. She was married to J.V. Cooper at Pigott, Arkansas in 1909, and to this union two children were born, Ruel and Leah. Ruel preceded his mother in death, having departed this life October 14, 1942. Leah resides in California. Sister Key was spending the winter with Leah at the time of her death. Flora was married to Joe W. Key at Memphis, Tennessee October 30, 1918, and to this union three children were born, Willie, Ruth and Joanne. Sister Key was instrumental in helping found the West Eminence Christian Church, of which she, her husband Joe and three children, Willie, Ruth and Joanne all became members in April of 1933. She was also preceded in death by her husband and two more children. Joe passed away March 2, 1963; her daughter, Joanne, April 7, 1973; and her son, Willie, May 7, 1973. In recent years Sister Key lived with Leah during the winter months and with Ruth during the summer. She is survived by two daughters Lelah Button of Rancho, California and Ruth Thornton of Eminence, Missouri; also 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, of whom Levi Culpepper of Eminence, Missouri.
