Jess Redden. Raleigh Register (Beckley, WV) 19 Sep 1972 Jess Redden. Funeral services for Jess Redden, 77, of Crow, will be held at 1 p. m. Wednesday in the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Revs. Ernest Barley and Carlos Perry in charge. Burial will be in the Hunt cemetery at Grandview. Redden died at 12:20 p. m. Monday in a local hospital following a short illness. Born Nov. 3, 1895, in Clay County, he was a son of the late Gan and Nancy Martin Redden. He was a veteran of World War I and a retired timber worker. He belonged to the Free Will Baptist Church at Crow. Survivors include his wife, Effie Vance Redden; one son, Vincent Redden of Grandview; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Nelda) Johnson of Crow and Mrs. Ralph (Lillian) Morton of Covington, Ohio; one step-daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Redden of Beaver, two sisters, two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Sommerville and Mrs. Florence Ray, both of Crow, 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p. m. today.
