A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life of Carmen Basco Shilling Troquille was Monday, the 6th of August 2012 at the St. Margaret Mary Mission in Gorum, Father Kurian Zachariah served as celebrant. Burial followed in the Gorum Cemetery.
Ms. Carmen Basco Shilling Troquille, 81, of Gorum, entered eternal rest on Friday, the 3rd of August 2012 at Rapides General Hospital after a short illness. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Arts in education. She retired from the Louisiana school system after more than 20 years of service and also as Postmaster in Gorum. She loved her community and was involved in all aspects of it. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Mission in Gorum.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carson Leo Basco and MaeBelle Nichols Basco; husbands, Raymond DeWitt Shilling and Roy "Chic" Troquille; her son, Michael Leslie Keefe.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons and daughters-in-law; her daughter; her brother; her six grandchildren; her fourteen great-grandchildren.
Services were under Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
