John Jerome Owenn was born in the state of Vermont, and had 1 brother who was killed in a horse show jumping event. John was a Golden Gloves boxer in the United States Army. John Jerome thought of himself as an honorable man, and all of his friends knew him that way. Also, John was very private man and kept his life to himself as his friends understand that most Vermonters are; so I hope his friends forgive me for selfishly providing myself with a place to commemorate his life and leave virtual flowers.

John loved the State of Nevada and he had many, many, many friends there especially in the Virginia City area where he worked for the horse rentals and was their rowdy.

John loved horses more than almost anyone that I have ever met. He spent most of his time riding or on horse ranches. He preferred the out door life. He had a Morgan gelding who he called Rondo, and they spent thousands of hours riding through the Reno and Lake Tahoe area.

John was "the most" Gentlemanly man I or any of his lady friends have ever known. He provided security for many women in Reno and they were all very grateful for his company. Some of us wouldn't have survived the rigors of our Casino jobs without John's gentleman ways and security. We all loved John Jerome Owenn greatly. John had one of the greatest senses of dry humor I have ever known. when I thanked him for his help and security he would always say, "It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it".

My understanding is that John left behind a beloved wife, friends and family. God Bless John Jerome Owenn for his courage, devotion to his country, family and friends. God bless us all.
