Jim Vail was the son of Henry Vail and Dollie Ann Elizabeth Blalock and grandson of Jeremiah Vail, Sr. and Mary Bradley. He married Sarah Annie Elizer Viola Lewter on Dec. 30. 1885 in Lincoln Parish, LA. Viola/Cousin Babe was the daughter of Henry Lewter and Sarah Ardilla "Dilly" Coleman. The children of Jim and Viola were Dorothy Carrie Etta (md Jack Asken), Hattie Mae (md Osborne Quarles) and Henry Liners (md Ruth Kelly). Jim was a tall, dark and handsome man. He was easy-going, good natured and did what Cousin Babe said! (His grave is fenced in with Hubert B. Alexander.)
