WOODVILLE —Glenn W. Bigelow, 72, Benton Road, was found dead by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Bigelow, from a gunshot would at his home shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

A verdict of suicide was issued by Dr. Richard S. Lee, Jefferson County medical examiner.


The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home with Rev. Elwyn Putney, pastor of Boyleston Wesleyan Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening
from 7 to 9.

Surviving, besides his widow, are his step-mother, Mrs. George (Rose) Bigelow, Mannsville; a sister, Mrs. James (Jenette) Allen, Woodville; a half-sister, Mrs. Virgil (Cora) Shepard, Ellisburg; a half brother, George Bigelow,
Oswego.

Born in the Town of Ellisburg Oct. 9, 1899, son of George and Maude Woodard Bigelow, he was educated in local schools and married Florence Fobes of Woodville July 3, 1927. She died Jan. 25, 1964. He married Ethel Snedeker April 8, 1966.

Mr. Bigelow was employed by the Town of Ellisburg Highway Department and was later self-employed as a milk hauler. He then served as caretaker for the Salvation Army camp for children near Woodville for 20 years.
