Earl L. Potts, 76, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Hospice of Lancaster County.

Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Austin Potts, Sr. & Grace Fisher Potts.

He was married celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Earl received a bachelor's degree in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University, and bachelor's and master's degrees in Elementary Education from Millersville University.

He retired in 1998 after 34 years as a teacher, most of them in the Lampeter-Strasburg School District where he taught 6th and 7th grade social studies and geography at Martin Meylin Middle School.

He was active in the Lancaster-Lebanon PSERS (for retired teachers), a volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital, and a retiree of the Strasburg Railroad.

Earl was an active member of Calvary Church, which honored him in 1993 for 25 years of distinguished service that included service on the Official Board as Church Clerk and Deacon, member of the Missions Conference and Special Events team, Christian Education Committee, and Sunday School and Summer Bible School teacher.

Earl also led workshops at Camp Nathanael's Outdoor Education program in Kentucky.

In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his sons, daughter, granddaughter, and brother.

He was predeceased by three brothers: Austin H. Potts, William J. Potts, Orville Irvin Potts, and three sisters: Elaine Potts Mattice, Lillian Potts Heim, and Judith Potts Ritts.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Earl's Celebration of Life Service on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Church, 1052 Landis Valley Rd., Lancaster.

The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Private family interment.
