Nathan P. Gay, 78, died at his home Wednesday afternoon. He had been seriously ill two weeks.
Born June 11, 1914, in Marion, he was the son of Clarence C. and Alta (McPeek) Gay.
On July 18, 1936, he married the former Garnet L. Jackson. She survives.
Mr. Gay was retired after 21 years service at the Eaton Corporation. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Marion and the Men's Garden Club. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the 9th Air Force.
Also surviving are three brothers. Alvin C. Gay, Delaware, Eugene and Willis Gay, both Marion; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral is noon Saturday at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Cindy Peel and the Rev. Clarence Quary officiating. Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Marion Area Veteran's Council. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren.
