RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. — Shirley Ivey Ebert, 53, of Rutherfordton, died Monday, July 30, 2012 in Mission Hospital.

A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Norma Bain Ivey. She was a custodian at Forest City-Dunbar Elementary School. Shirley was a member of the Cpl. Christopher S. Ebert Marine Corp League.


Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brian David Ebert, Forest City and Roger Anthony Kaid, Rutherfordton; two sisters, Elizabeth Pletts, Forest City and Susan Eddins, Forest City; brother James Ivey, Forest City and four grandchildren.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Cpl. Christopher S. Ebert; and sister, Barbara Schaefer; and brother, Stephen Ivey.


Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, August 4 in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
