Frederick J. Mahlke, 69, who retired as a conductor on the New York Central System last October 1, died at his home, 616 Cambridge avenue at 3:30 p.m. yesterday. He had been ill since September.
Mr. Mahlke was born in Berlin, Germany April 29, 1884 and had lived in Elyria for 43 years, the length of time he was employed by the New York Central System. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of King Solomon Lodge and the Lake Erie Consistory of Cleveland.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rose E. Mahlke, three brothers, William of West Salem, George and Erie of Oberlin; four sisters, Mrs. Gus Pallas and Mrs. Anna Tucker of Elyria, Mrs. Clara Maynard and Mrs. Al Ernst of Oberlin. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Miss Penny Stone of Elyria, daughter of Mrs. Carol Stone who died last June 18. Another daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Evelyn Mahlke passed away July 26, 1922.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2p.m. from the Sudro-Curtis funeral home. The Rev. B. Kenneth Anthony, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate and burial will be made in Crown Hill cemetery, Amherst. Friends may call at funeral home.
