James H. Mooney, 89, of Sycamore, died, Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born April 25, 1923, in Waynesburg, Whiteley Township, a son of the late William Stanford and Ida Rose Mooney.

Mr. Mooney was a foreman at Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Waynesburg, and a farmer.

He was a member of Fairall United Methodist Church and Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461. He also served on the Greene County Farm Bureau. On November 20, 1945, he married Dorotha Walker, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Kay Mooney (Larry Coffield) of Waynesburg and Jeff Mooney of Sycamore; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Mooney of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Steve Mooney (Tammy), Heath Mooney (Denise), Ryan Mooney (Greta), Anissa Stephenson (Matt) and Jamie Mooney; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth Mooney of Pittsburgh, John Mooney (Elva) of Washington, Bill Mooney (Jane) of Vermilion, Ohio, and Charles Mooney of Taylor, Mich.; and a sister, Mary Ann Filer of Waynesburg.

Deceased are a son, James H. Mooney Jr.; a brother, Robert Mooney; and two sisters, Alene Luzadder and Helen Husk.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, with the Rev. Ronald J. Geisler and Pastor Lanfer Simpson, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairall Cemetery, Whitely Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Fairall United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be expressed at www.behmfh. com.
