Sylvia K. "Bea" Richard HIGHLAND Sylvia K. "Bea" Richard of Highland, formerly of Hyde Park, died September 23, 2007 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Born on November 17, 1928inTarrytown, she was the daughter of the late Vincent John Biggio and the late Delia Gazzola Biggio. She graduated from Vassar Brothers School of Nursing in 1950 as a registered nurse.

She worked at IBM, Poughkeepsie as a nurse in the Medical Department. After retiring from IBM, she continued to work as a school nurse throughout Dutchess County. Sylvia was a revered, prominent member of the Vassar Alumnae Association. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed quilting, golfing and crossword puzzles.

She hand stitched quilts for babies with Aids She was an avid reader and shared that gift with others by volunteering with the Literacy Foundation In 1950, she married Leo Paul Richard Jr. who predeceased her Her son, Vincent John Richard, a brother, Stephen, his wife, Dorothy "Scis" Biggio, and a son in law, Todd Dillinger, also predeceased her She is survived by her extensive, adoring family Kalherine E. and Francis X. Lasko; Leo and Kathleen Richard, Marguerite and Joe Mirabello; Antoinette Dillinger, Gustav and Diane Richard, Stephanie and Bob Taylor, Sylvia K. and Fritz Wohlfahrt, Cele and Rich Virgil; Andrew and Kate Richard, Natalie and Tony Boyer, Gabrielle and Dave Goodwin; 2G grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Many whose lives she touched with her compassion and kindness also called her "Mom" All will remember her fun loving nature; always singing, whistling or dancing to an "Old Favorite" Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 I'm, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc Rte 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Thursday, Sept 27th at Our Lady of the Itosary Chapel of St. Peter's 'Parish, Hudson View Dr, llmghkeepsie Fr. James Garislo will officiate. Buiial will follow in the family plot in St liter's Cemetery, Iuughkeep sie.
