Mary Elizabeth Waybright was born on December 25, 1859. The following year, on June 27, 1860 when the census was taken, she was there with the list of children and was reported to be 8 months old. Her parents were not literate, and her exact birth year was forgotten through the years. But the evidence is right there when they spoke to the census taker that day. She was several years older than her husband Floyd Calhoun, so it was common for women to adjust their age to be closer in age to their husbands.
