RICHARDS, EFFIE RUTH—Effie Ruth Morse, was born near Exeter, Neb., December 5, 1871. She passed away in a Lincoln hospital Monday evening, December 14, 1942, following a brief illness.

A part of her childhood was spent in Iowa. While she was still in her teens, her parents returned with her to Nebraska and took up their residence in Thayer County, near Hebron, where she grew to womanhood.

December 5, 1900, she was united in marriage to Arthur P. Richards, immediately after which they moved to a farm two miles north of Geneva, Neb. Their entire married life was spent in this community, and here were born their three sons, Glen, Cecil and Jesse.

Mrs. Richards was a Christian woman. She accepted her Lord at an early age and always remained true to the faith. She had been a member of the First Methodist Church of Geneva for over forty-two years, having transferred to this church from Hebron shortly after her marriage. Her life was a constant testimonial to her Christian faith, and she found real joy in serving others.

She loved her home and always shared it freely with her friends. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and never ceased to be interested in their welfare.

She was a regular attendant at the services of her church until she lost her hearing; and her worn Bible, with its marked passages, still testifies to her enduring fidelity.

She leaves to mourn her departure, besides her three sons, Glen A. of Geneva, Cecil P. of Grafton and Jesse C. of Geneva; one sister, Iva Burden of Helendale, Cal.; a brother, Martin E Morse of McCook, Neb.; a niece, Carrie Hillgren of Martland, who made her home with the Richards’ for many years, ten grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Orrie, who died at the age of fifteen years, and her husband, who was claimed in death October 3, 1940.

Funeral services were held in the Hrubesky funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. W. B. Pardun, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Geneva, officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
