Rev. Lorenzo Edward Bennett, age 29 went to be with Our Lord Tuesday, July 31, 2012 after an unfortunate motorcycle accident in Lemoore, California where he resided with his wife Mindy Bennett and three daughters; Destiny, Rhyanna and Takara Bennett.

Lorenzo was born to Ronald Eugene Bennett and Joyce Arlene White on May 4, 1983 in Taylorsville, Alexander County, North Carolina.

He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for six years followed by serving the U.S. Navy as a Civilian Contracted Aircraft Serviceman for six years at L-3 and URS, Inc.

Lorenzo served the U.S. Navy on the VFA-94 which traveled to many countries. He served in operation Iraqi Freedom. Lorenzo was a Petty Officer 3rd Class.

Lorenzo was a well decorated veteran receiving the following medals; Good Conduct Award Medal (GCA), Global War on Terrorism Medal(GWOT), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Navy Unit Commendation.

He served as President and Pastor of the Coast 2 Coast Burners MC for the last three years. Lorenzo was an active member of NJROTC and the FFA. Lorenzo received his AA in Criminal Justice in July 2012. Lorenzo was faithful in all of his ministries. He was a very devoted man to God, family and all those whose lives he touched. Lorenzo's favorite classes were Religion and World History.

Lorenzo had many passions in life; model airplanes, autograph collecting, anything motorcycle, NASCAR collector and he loved to collect art! He loved to watch basketball and NASCAR racing. Some other activities that Lorenzo was involved in was; American Legion and various ministries.

Lorenzo was an ordained Non-Denominational Minister for his current motorcycle ministries and services. Lorenzo loved the outdoors, especially taking trips to the Sequoias, Morro Bay and Pismo. He will be forever missed and held close in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.

Lorenzo was a graduate of West Iredell High School in 2001 and while he was there he received the Unsung Hero Award for his involvement with the baseball program. He also attended ACHS where he received the Unsung Hero Award for his involvement with the football program. He also leaves to cherish his memory; his mother, Joyce A. White and father, Ronald Eugene (Regina) Bennett of Taylorsville; three sisters – Erica Bennett, Amanda Bennett and Charity Wellman all of Taylorsville; three brothers – Rickie Jarmell Wellman of Taylorsville, Nicholas Propst and Jeremy Dodd. Lorenzo was raised mostly in the home of his great grandparents – Mrs. Wilma Stevenson and the late Magellan Stevenson, Sr. In the home also was his late Aunt Cynthia Lynn Stevenson, Aunt Prudence Stevenson (Jamie) Houpe, Uncle Magellan (Cindy) Stevenson, Jr. and Aunt Daphne Stevenson; Cousins – Chasidy (Caderis) Heath, Bristol Stevenson, Nicholas Stevenson and Magellan Stevenson, III; Grandparents John B. (Raynel) Poole; Great-great grandparents – Florence B. Wilson and Ruth Lackey of Hiddenite; Grandparents – Frances Blount and the late Robert of Taylorsville; Margaret (John) Rucker of Hiddenite; Special Aunts – Sandy Bennett, Tina Dalton, Debra Bennett, Crystal Bennett of Taylorsville, Dewana (Leslie) Howell, Teresha (Richard) Connley, Sylvia (James) Champbell, Helen (Chester) Grinton, Terry (Phyllis) Lackey, Margaret Adams and Bonita Taylor of Hiddenite, Gladdys (Gray) Speaks of Yadkinville, Alfreida Bennett of Wilkesboro, and Betty Bennett of Statesville. A wake will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 am at East Taylorsville Baptist Church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Full military rights will be provided by the Iredell County Veterans Counsel. Rev. Jamie Steele will be officiating.
