DALLAS — Richard Wallace Strong, 79, of Dallas, formerly of Denton, a self-employed homebuilder, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, in Dallas.

He was born July 7, 1926, in Denton to Joe and Mamie Hovenkamp Strong. In 1978, he married Betty Turner in Dallas. She preceded him in death.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended the University of North Texas and Texas Tech University.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19, at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include four daughters, Shannon Floyd of Dallas, Sheryl Ahearn of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Vicki Roach of Coppell and Valarie Pietsch of Garland; three sons, Rick Gailey of Denton, Steve Turner of Lewis­ville and Jim Turner of Dallas; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Faith Hospice, 6100 Colwell Blvd., Suite 225, Irving, TX 75039.
