Mrs. Nancy Hitchins Dead At The Age Of 73

Was The Widow of Owen Hitchins, Pioneer Businessman
Of Mountain City

Frostburg - May 12 - Mrs. Nancy Powell Hitchins, 73, widow of Owen
Hitchins, prominent in Frostburg business affairs for many years, died
at 3:40 o'clock this morning at her home, 45 West Main Street. Mrs.
Hitchins had been in failing health since February 1925, when she
suffered at paralytic stroke. Her husband died in March 1893. Mrs.
Hitchns was born in Eckhart and was a descendant of the early
residents of that town. She was a member of the First M.E. Church
since childhood.
She is survived by two sons, Owen E. and James J. Hitchins, of
the Tri- State Mine and Mill Supply Co. of Cumberland.
The funeral will take place from the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday
morning. Services will be conducted by Dr. J.C. Nicholson, Pastor of
the First M.E. Church. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery. The
pallbearers will be Harry D. Colborn, George Stern, Charles S. Jeffries,
Frank Watts, Olin R. Rice, and D.D. Pelce, flower bearers, James A.
Brown, John Stewart, George G. Jeffries, J. Glenn Beall, George Wittig,
and Clifton D. Jeffries.
