Harry Inman was born 22 Aug 1864 in North Vernon, Jennings, Indiana, the son of Henry and Amanda Tate Inman.

He was married to Anna May Fox 15 December 1886 in Keokuk, Lee, Iowa (Marriage Record Book Volume 1 page 71). To this union were born 8 children: John Cary, Etta May, Clyde Irvin, Roy Alfred, Hazel Dell, Violet Bell, Garnett and Henry "Ted" Theodore.

Harry Inman was murdered by two negro men while taking care of the grocery store of his brother Ham Inman about 3:20 p.m. on April 30, 1919. The men were apprehended and were taken directly to Fort Madison Penitentiary with out being brought to Keokuk. On June 2, 1919 George Morris and William Scott were sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Harry Inman.
