After a ten-year struggle with dementia, Arline Violet Sletten Brown passed
peacefully through this life on October 25, 2014 at the age of 93 In
Chesterfield, Missouri.

Arline was born February 10, 1921 in Superior, Wisconsin and was the oldest
child of Milan Walter Sletten and Amanda Ovidia Thompson Sletten. She grew up in
Superior, graduating from Superior State Teachers College in 1942 prior to
teaching Latin in the Sun Prairie, Wisconsin schools. During those years she met
Orville Roy Brown from North Branch, Minnesota who was an engineering assistant
with the Milwaukee Road Railway and a musician with a dance band. They were
married in White Plains, New York and traveled the country with the railroad, as
Orville was reassigned to various tasks throughout the country. After their son
Jack was born, Arline and Orville lived in North Branch, Minnesota for three
years, and in St Louis, Missouri for two years where Orville was transferred by
the railroad. Finally they moved to Houston, Texas in 1955 where they enjoyed
the warm climate and friendly people for 48 years before returning to St. Louis
to be with family as they aged.

Arline enjoyed growing up in Superior and especially remembered picnics in
Pattison Park, Lake Nebagamon, and Amnicon Falls. In Houston, Arline did
volunteer work at MD Anderson Cancer Center, was active with the Shrine Bowlers
and the 25 Investment Club, and enjoyed the many close friends she made in
Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orville Brown, her brother
