Services held for Forrest Umsted

Funeral services for Forrest Umsted, 75, Harcourt, were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 26. Services were conducted at the Harcourt Covenant Church with interment in the Dayton Cemetery. Arrangements were completed by the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.

Mr. Umsted passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Trinity West Hospital, Fort Dodge, where he had been a patient for a week.

Among survivors are his widow, Ida; children: Mrs. Warren Hanson, Dayton; Irwin and Roger Umsted, Independence, Mo.; Forrest Umsted, Jr., Kasson, Minn.; M. Sgt. Robert stationed in Iran; Mrs. Marvin Kaufman, Lincoln, Neb.; Dr. Richard Umsted, Columbus, Ohio; Gary Umsted, Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers: William, Lanyon; Clyde, Truro and Earl, St. Louis, Mo.

Forrest Umsted was born in Dayton and was educated in that community. He married Ida Beckman in 1923 at Clinton. They lived at Davenport and Dayton before moving to Harcourt in 1931. He was employed at the Cooperative Elevator in Harcourt and in 1948 began employment with the Webster County road maintenance department, retiring in 1973.
