Awonda Brown, 98, passed Monday July 30, 2012 in Muskogee. She was born March 4,
1914 in Nowata, Ok to James and Mary Ann (Hittson) Blasingame. She was a member
of the Red Hat Ladies, a member of the Baptist Church; she loved sewing,
crafting, and quilting.
Awonda is survived by her daughters, Shirley and Husband Don Griffith of
Muskogee, Sherry Kay Brown Purvis of Raleigh NC. Grand children Debbie and
Husband Ron Barry of Oktaha, Caleb G. Hinson of LA, Joshua H. Hinson and Keira P
Hinson both of Raleigh NC. Great Grand Children Chad and wife Cassie Griffith of
Yukon, Emily and Husband Ferando Lopez of Piedmont, Aimee and Norm Nadeau of
Phoenix AZ., Zack, Janie, Alex Griffith all of Edmond, and Ronnie and Jeremy
Barry. Great Great grandchildren Camryn, Lucas, Jonathan, also by numerous
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Barney,
Son Joe, grandson Duane Griffith, also by 9 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held at Greenhill Cemetery on Thursday August 2,
2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Richard Ford officiating.
