Henry Ware former trustee

Henry a "Trot" Ware Jr., Atlanta attorney and former trustee of Mercer University, died of heart failure Saturday at Piedmont Hospital. He was 81. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Covenant Presbyterian Church with burial at 2:30 p.m. at Hogansville City Cemetery in Hogansville, Ga.

Henry Hall Ware was born to Henry Hall Ware Sr. and Mary Allen Ware on March SO, 1903, in Heard County. He was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Mercer University in Macon In 1922 and received his law degree from Atlanta Law School in 1926. He married Miss Katherine F. Catching on June 1, 1929. Mr. Ware practiced law in Atlanta for 58 years. He was senior partner of Ware, Parker, Johnson, Cook & Dunlevie. He was on the Mercer University board of trustees from 1938-42, 1962-67 and 1974-73. He also was on the president's council from 1968-73 and was president of the alumni association from 1960-61. He raised the funds for the restoration of the Katherine Catchings Ware Music Hall at Mercer, and In 1970 he was recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus award. He also received honorary doctor of law degrees from Atlanta Law School and Mercer University in 1970 and 1974, respectively. He was a member of the American and Atlanta Bar associations, the State Bar of Georgia, the American Judicature Society, Lawyers Club, Old Warhorse Club, Commerce Club, Alpha Tau Omega and Masonic Lodge 23. He belonged to Covenant Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katherine Catchings Ware of Atlanta; son, H. Hall Ware HI of Atlanta; daughter, Mrs. Margaret W. Deimlng of Atlanta; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
