John H. T. Harn married two women named Frances Leighty, cousins, both born about the same time. His first wife was b 6 Feb 1820 in Fayette Co PA. She was the d/o Daniel Leighty and Margaret McGinnity. They had 10 children listed in the 1860 census living in Monroe, Iowa: The children were Frances, Samuel, John HT, George W., Zachariah, Joseph M, Winfield Scott, Margaret P. and Albert. The first Frances Leighty Harn d 16 Jan 1863 in Moravia, Appanoose Co., IA, and buried there.

His second wife was Frances "Fanny" Leighty, widow of John Henry Merrell and daughter of Henry & Sarah Leighty of Fayette Co, PA. She was born 31 Oct 1817 Fayette Co, Pennsylvania. John HT Harn married Fanny Leighty Merril in Apr 1863. They had many years together before Mr. Harn's death in 1886.

Daniel Leighty and Henry Leighty were brothers, so the two Frances Leightys were first cousins.

There is no grave marker found for Mr. Harn, but I verified with the Fulton County Clerk's office that he is buried in Vermont Cemetery and the date of death is correct.
