Actor. Born Hein van der Niet in Holland, he was a matinee idol in Germany, when he fled to America before World War II. In Hollywood, he made his screen debut in "Enemy Agent" (1940), followed by "Ski Patrol" (1940). I popular performer, he portrayed anti-Nazi patriots and continental romancers in over 30 films before he was forced to retire after a full on the stage in 1955. His credits include "Calling Dr. Gillespie" (1942), "The Fighting Guerrillas" (1943), "Escape in the Desert" (1945), "The Fighting Kentuckian" (1949) and "Spy Hunt" (1951). He died of a heart attack at age 73 in Los Angeles, California.
