John Wesley Swanson, 81 a long-time resident of Harcourt, died Monday night, May 22 (1972), at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he had been a patient for several days.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Harcourt. Burial will be in the Lost Grove cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Dwight Swanson, of Silver Springs, Md.; three daughters, Ardyce Swanson, Fort Dodge, Mrs. Walter (Frances) Lang, Hampton, and Mrs. R.E. (Pauline) Bowlsby, Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. William (Leona) Lingwall, Harcourt, and several brothers, Oscar, of Harcourt, Lawrence, of Salem, Oregon; Lloyd of Boulder, Colorado; and a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Swanson was born on a farm near Harcourt on February 19, 1891 and lived in that community all of his life. He married Frances Gustafson on December 28, 1919 at Harcourt. She preceded him in death in 1956.
