THE SUDDEN DEATH OF JENNIE CARSON
Mrs Jennie Carson died suddenly in Stockton early last Tuesday morning, to which city she had gone the day before, feeling in exceptionally good health and spirits. Late that night she retired to her lodgings with her niece of that city, and shortly after was stricken. The niece immediately summoned assistance, but her aunt was dead when it arrived. Mrs Carson was under treatment last year for chronic mastoditis [bacterial infection of the ear] for which she was operated on. She improved rapidly and for some time before her death was enjoying fine health. But due to the disease a cerebral embolism occurred, which speedily brought about her death.
Mrs Carson was a native of England aged 65 years and had live d in California for 40 years, making her home for the past four years near this city with her daughter, Mrs Ellinwood, a lady popular in local society and the wife of Veranus Ellinwood, the well known extensive cattle dealer and raiser. Her husband died here April 10, 1924. During her residence here hse made many friends who esteemed her highly. A brother, Rev Geo Trudgeon, a Methodist minister of San Jose, two other brothers in the East of high professional standing and a sister, Mrs Fred Marx of Cottonwood and her daughter here, are the near relatives to mourn her passing.
The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the Ellinwood home directed by undertaker Burden, and under the auspices of Sierra Rebekah Lodge No 245 IOOF, the deceased being an honored member of Mt Shasta Lodge No 1238 of Redding. Internment was in the family plot in the IOOF cemetery.

Burial per CH Burden records, location unknown. There is no stone at the Sonora Odd Fellows cemetery, nor is there a Carson plot, her name appears with that of her husband's in the Mountain Shadow Cemetery, the newspaper listing her burial at Odd Fellows must be in error.
