Chancy Williams lived north of the village of Rushford, New York.

He enlisted December 24, 1863 as a private in Company B, 2nd New York Mounted Rifles, Civil War. Promoted to farrier, May 1, 1865. Discharged with his Company August 10, 1865 at Petersburg, VA.

Chancy and his wife Harriet lived on a farm in Section 54 on Cream Ridge Road, just west of a farm owned by Micah Hall, Harriet's father. Chancy also worked as an "asher" making potash.

Father of Lillian "Lilly" Williams, who married Iowa Austin (born 1848 in Bell Run, PA.)

Lillian and Iowa Austin had two sons: Herbert "Bert" or "Bertie" and Ernest Eugene Austin; the latter was killed in the race riot in Tulsa, OK on June 1, 1921. Ernest Austin is buried in White Cemetery, Rushford, NY.

Ernest Austin had two sons: Benjamin and Earl. Earl Austin was my grandfather.

Chauncy Williams, Life long Resident of Rushford succumbs to Long Illness

Chauncy Williams, who died Saturday morning, was born in Newport, Herkimer County, this state, September 30, 1833. when he was a small boy his parents moved to Farmersville and shortly after went to Michigan but he remained in Rushford, making his home with relatives.

In 1855 he married Harriet Hall who died in February 1896. To them were born four children Eugene who died in infancy, Lillian who died in 1881, Nettie and Carrie who mourn the loss of a good father.

In Mr. Williams father's family there were eleven children and only one survives, Warren Williams, who lives in Jefferson county, Michigan.

When Mr. Williams daughter, Lillian, died she left two sons, Herbert and Ernest Austin, who made their home with their grandfather, who is also survived by six other grandchildren Earl and Roy Shaffer, Harland and Harriet Clark and Loren and Clifford Worden four great-grandchildren Benjamin, Earl and Alfonso Austin and Rutherford Shaffer.

December 24, 1863 Mr. Williams enlisted for three years in the civil war as a private in Co. B. 2nd N.Y. Dragoon May 1, 1863 he was appointed farrier and was discharged at Buffalo August 24, 1865.

In 1904 he was married to Mrs. Thursa Scott who died January 14 of this year, shortly after they had gone to live with their daughter, Mrs. Nettie Clark, on the old homestead.

Mr. Williams has been, in poor health for some years but has been a continuous sufferer the past few months but has been very patient. He was loyal soldier, a good citizen and will be greatly missed."
