Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on 20 July 1908, son of John B. Booker. Appears in 1910 Census in La Crosse, Wisconsin. By 1930, he was in Shields, Lake, Illinois.

The Davenport Democrat & Leader newspaper (Iowa) reported on June 22, 1927 his enlistment into the Army Air Corps,

"Clayton E. Booker has been granted a special assignment to the air service at Chanute Field, Rantoul, Illinois, and will take up the studies for a commissioned officer...(He) is a graduate from the East Moline High school and was granted special assignment to the air service by the Adjutant General of the Army."

He met Helene Emma Charlon, and they were married July 11, 1933 in Paris. 6 children including Richard Jean Booker (1938-1993) and Alain Booker (1940-1940).

On January 23, 1934, the Sheboygan Press (Sheboygan, Wisconsin) reported that Clayton Booker, an "American student", had been detained by police as part of a demonstration in France against Premier Camills Chautemps and the Stavisky case (where $40,000,000 was fleeced from the public).

He returned, alone, to the US aboard the ship Nyassa from Lisbon Portugal leaving Oct 16, 1943 and arriving in Philadephia, Pennsylvania on 1 Nov 1943.

Clayton Booker appears in an article in the Long Beach Independent Newspaper on Jan 29, 1960 as the president of the 44th District California Democratic Council, backing Joseph M. Kennick's re-election campaign.

He is buried next to his second wife, Antonina Triolo.
