HOMESTEADER

Francis Ravilo Huestis passed away in a Havre hospital at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, May 27, the day of his birthday, age 76 years. Suffering a severe siege of acute kidney trouble, he was taken to a hospital a week ago Wednesday night, where, following a major operation, he seemed to rally for a few days but later died from a weak and faltering heart.

The funeral services are to be held here in the Woodmen hall at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon with Rev. R. M. Bickle, of Havre, officiated.

The deceased was born at Crown Point, New York, May 27, 1855. At the age of 20, he with his parents located in Iowa, and five years later he filed on a pre-emption in Hand County, South Dakota, where he met and married Miss Ida Alice Brown at Wessington, on November 26, 1885. In 1896 he and family moved back to Iowa and lived on a farm near Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1920 the deceased came to Montana and filed on a homestead 20 miles north of Hingham where he resided with his family until four years ago where he and wife made their home at Hingham.

The deceased enjoyed robust health until about four years ago when he experienced the first symptoms of the illness which caused his death.

"Dad," as he was known to his many Hingham friends, was a welcome visitor anywhere. His jovial disposition and forbearance was never found wanting despite his near blindness and acute suffering. He fully realized that his time was near at hand and in full confidence expressed his readiness to answer the call of the Final Summons.

The surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. F. R. Huestis, a son Francis of Hingham; and three daughters, Mrs. John Chvilicek of Hingham, Mrs. Fred Crites, of Gildford, Mrs. D. T. Smith, of DeSmet, South Dakota. A daughter, Mrs. Frank Smith, preceded him in death two years ago.

The heartfelt sympathies of the entire community are extended to the bereaved wife and family.
