He was born in Siler City, North Carolina, to the late Jesse and Decie Adcock Smith. He was a US Air Force Veteran having served in Alaska during the Korean War. Dalton retired from AT&T (Lucent Technologies) as a supervisor.
He was a former member of the Scottish Rites Mason; Odd Fellows International; American Legion and the Pioneers (Western Electric Retirement Group). He enjoyed golf, football, bowling, flying and he loved animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Dalton is survived by his wife, a daughter, a sister, a brother, his beloved dog, Ocean, and a host of relatives and friends.
