Passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Guelph General Hospital in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Stanley (1977). Dear mother of Murray (Nina), Cecilia (Ron) Broderick, Leonard (Andrea), Marianne (Thomas) Sloane, Janice (Cal) Breckenridge, Carol Harnack (Amos), Norman (Lydia), Mary-Jane Harnack, Ron (Lyne) Helen Harnack, David (Donna), and the late Joseph. Dear grandmother of Jason, Jennifer, Rochelle, Jeff, Lisa, Simon, Michelle, Renée, Liane, Thaidra, Suzanne, Katherine, Caroline, Michael, Derek, Alyssa, Jasmine, Karen, Joshua, Adam, Olivia, Wolfgang, and Hope. Dear great-grandmother of 16; predeceased by her parents Caroline and John Sowa, and her siblings, Johanna Murawski, Stanley, Joseph, and Agnes Hagey. She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, and her sisters-in-law, Irene Bitschy, Vera Schnurr, Mabel Harnack and Mary Sowa.
Sophie was very devoted to her Catholic faith, and her family. She married Stan in 1941, and together they raised their family on a farm known as the Garden of Puslinch. She had a special place in her heart for all children.
Sophie's family will receive friends at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Friday, June 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers being held at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church 16 Cooper Street (Hespeler) Cambridge on Saturday, June 2nd at 11o'clock with interment to follow at New Hope Cemetery. Those who wish, may make a memorial donation to either the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
