Miss Heywood passed away at the Phillips House, the VIP wing of the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She left behind an estate valued at just over a million dollars. After the passing of her father, Helen and her mother, had the Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital built in his honor. It was opened in 1907. Helen specifically bequeathed more funds in her own will to the hospital to complete the construction of a nurse's home plus the maternity and children's ward at the facility. She also left the First Baptist Church in Gardner $3000 in support of music at their services.
