Mr. Charles James "Jim" Burrowes, 69, of Goodman, Missouri went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, July, 28, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

Jim entered this life on November 10, 1942 in Garnett, Kansas born to the union of Charles Arden and Fern LaVoris (Vanderlip) Burrowes. He was raised in Goodman, Missouri and was a 1960 graduate of Goodman High School. On September 23, 1960 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Opal H. "Mickie" Mann and to this union two daughters and one son were born. He operated J&M Salvage Yard and J&M Vintage Auto for thirty-seven years, retiring in 2002. He loved old cars and enjoyed all of his customers. Jim never met a stranger. He made each customer a friend for life and always had a light hearted joke to tell. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior and his family. Jim was a hard working man whom will be dearly missed by his family and his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Todd Allen Traxson.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Opal H. "Mickie" Burrowes of the home; two daughters, Tammie Kay Hartman and husband, Kent, of Goodman, Missouri and Candy Lea Brown of Goodman, Missouri; a son, Kevin James Burrowes and wife, Andrea, also of Goodman; six grandchildren, Amanda Burrowes, Echo Richards, Wayde Hartman, Kirstie Brown, Alyssa Burrowes and Christa Blythe; two great grandchildren, Robert Barns and Kelsey Reed; a sister, Vanda Dennis and husband, John, of Enterprise, Alabama; a brother in-law, Jerry Mann and wife, Sue, of Anderson, Missouri; a sister in-law, LaVaughn Wiley of Goodman, Missouri several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Words can not express our appreciation for your prayers, thoughts, cards, visits, phone calls and food. The support given to us by our community during this difficult time will never be forgotten.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Burrowes are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Banner Cemetery near Goodman, Missouri with Bro. Ray Mayfield officiating.
