SUNSET. Mona Mathews Nebeker, 88, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 8, 2004. She was born February 22, 1916 in Providence, Utah, to Lytton Y. and Ruby R. Mathews. She was reared in the shadow of the Grand Tetons near Alta, Wyoming. In 1935 she moved to Logan, Utah to attend USU. It was there she met her husband, Delbert. They were married January 11, 1936 in Logan. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 11, 1938. During her husband's long military career they lived in Salt Lake City, UT; Tucson, AZ; Perris, CA; Riverside CA; Honolulu, HI; Moses Lake, WA; Anaheim, CA and Sunset. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many capacities. Mona expressed her creativity through sewing, pattern drafting, Hawaiian seed jewelry, cake decorating, furniture upholstery, family histories, oil painting, and at the age of 86 took up watercolor painting. But her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her husband, Delbert, Sunset; three children and their spouses: Patricia (Gerald) Fowers, Sunset; Delbert M. (Sharlene) Nebeker, San Diego, CA; Christine (Lynn) Bastian, Arimo, ID; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Idonna (Mervin) Larsen, St. George, UT and Lou Jean (Revell) Nelson, Brookings, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a great grandson. The family wishes to thank Vistacare Hospice, especially Charyol, Mary, Bruce, Jessica and Elaine for their loving care, and also everyone from Comfort Keepers for their kind assistance. Funeral services held Monday, September 13, 2004 at Myers in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
