In 1982, after closing the Western Wear business Jay & wife, Sherrie purchased a lawn & tree care business which soon became American Turf & Tree Care…celebrating its 30 year anniversary this year.
Jay was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and the Wesleyan Church.
Jay enjoyed many activities such as skating, skiing, coin collecting, going to the mountains, and tinkering with computers. His passion, however, was his family.
Jay devoted his life to his wife, Sherrie, of 34 years and their two children, Melissa, 32 and Brad, 31.
Hundreds of hours were logged travelling around the country to support Melissa and Brad as they skated and danced competitively. On many occasions Jay also competed in the speed skating events or roller hockey.
Survivors include wife, Sherrie of Greeley; daughter, Melissa (Bart) Young of Lakewood; son, Brad Woods of Greeley; grandson, Connor Young of Lakewood; brothers, Lee (Pat) Woods and K.C. Woods all of Greeley. Jay is also survived by brother-in- law, John (Ramona) Beckman; nieces and nephews, Matthew Beckman, Rebecca (Zach) Northcutt, Brooklyn Northcutt and Austin Northcutt all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
