Farrell J. Jones, passed away following an illness at a local hospital on Sunday, July 22, 2012. He was born December 2, 1922, to Henry and Caroline (Carrie) Jones in Malad City, Idaho.

Farrell was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He attended Malad schools from elementary through high school. While in high school, he participated in baseball, track, basketball, football, band, and orchestra. He also held various student leadership positions during this time. He continued his higher education at the University of Idaho pre and post WWII and completed a Bachelor's of Business with a major in Accounting.

Farrell was a 1st Lieutenant in the military (3rd Battalion 272 Infantry) during WWII under General Patton in the European campaign and later during the occupation of Germany. Farrell was very humble about his experience in WWII.

Farrell never lost his love for sports. He loved to play golf and watch football, basketball, baseball, and golf. He loved to exercise and was always buying "cutting edge" golf and exercise equipment. He also loved working on his farm in Hagerman.

Farrell married the love of his life, Gloria Marie Ray, on August 6, 1947. He and Gloria began dating in high school at Malad High. They continued their courtship throughout his early years at U of I and the war years. Upon his return from the war, they were soon married and started a family. He had three beautiful daughters.

He taught at U of I and was working on his Master's when he was hired by Deaton and Company as a C.P.A. He continued to work and partner there until his retirement at age 84. He was well-known and well-respected by everyone he met. A handshake and his word were as solid as any contract. He was a generous, kind, and thoughtful person. He was always there when you needed him. Farrell dedicated his life to taking care of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Farrell was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria; daughter, Jennifer; and brother David. He is survived by his daughters: Carolyn Jones and Marilyn (Gary) Goy; grandchildren: Brett (Becki) Goy, Teresa (Vance) Walker, Tasha (Justin) Pope, Danielle Dixon, and Derek Dixon; great-grandchildren: Mark, Brandon, and Makayla Goy; Crystal, Jennifer, and Farrell Walker; and Carter and Camdon Pope.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Chapel. Graveside services with Military Rites will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Malad City Cemetery.
