HANSON, Essie B Crist Horton
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Essie B. Horton Hanson, 89, Muscatine, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at the Muscatine Care Center.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Ostrem will officiate. Pallbearers are Tracy Horton, Scott Horton, Bill Jensen, Mike Jensen and David Horton. Burial will be at Conesville Cemetery, Conesville.
Visitations are 4-7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hanson was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Conesville, the daughter of Edward H. and Hettie A. Edgington Crist. Her first marriage was to Francis P. Horton Dec. 16, 1933, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in December 1957. She later married Carroll Hanson June 27, 1964, in Burlington. He preceded her in death in August 1977.
She worked at H.J. Heinz Company for many years and also the Muscatine Care Center.
Survivors include two sons, Gail Horton and wife Patricia and Ronald Horton and wife Kay, all of Muscatine; two daughters, Mona Horton of Muscatine and Donna Mesmer of Davenport; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Crist of Muscatine. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; twin sons; and three brothers, Melvin, Clayton and Russell Crist.
