Queen of Danmark and Norway. Second wife of King Frederik V. Her parents were Duke Ferdinand Albrecht and Duchess Antoinette Amalie von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. Her sister Elisabeth was married to King Frederik the Great of Prussia, and her brother Anton Ulrich was the father of the unhappy and unfortunate Zar Ivan VI of Russia, who was deposed by Zarina Elisabeth. Four of his siblings went into exile in Denmark and their aunt, Juliane Marie had them installed in a house in Horsens, Jutland. King Frederik V was remarried to her 1752 after the death of his beloved queen Louise of Great Britain. She gave birth to 1 son, the hereditary prince Frederik, who father of King Christian VIII. As dowager Queen Juliane Marie headed a coup d'etat against her stepson Christian VII, who was declared insane just as his cousin King George III of Great Britain and his first minister Count J.F. Struense, who was beheaded for insults against his majesty. He was the lover of Queen Caroline Mathilde, sister of King George III of Great Britain. Juliane Marie governed the countries in the name of her son, the hereditary prince, from 1772 until 1784, when the crown prince. Later Frederik VI came into power, and the dowager queen withdrew to her royal Palace of Fredensborg.
