In 1865 he moved away from home in Kotka to become a blacksmith, he like went to study with blacksmith's master. But apparently, that did not work out, and he returned home the same year. Then in 1871, he moved to work as a servant to Hirssaari island. Where he probably met his future wife. Then he returned home in 1872 and soon they were married.
He married Christina Loviisa Johansdotter Sjoroos (1837-1911) in Kymi Viipur, Finland, on June 8th, 1873. (( Name: Daniel Karlsson, Gender: Male, Marriage Date: 8 kesa 1873 (8 Jun 1873) Marriage Place: Kymi, Viipuri, Finland. Spouse: Stina Lovisa Johansdr)) They had four kids.
Daniel was a fisherman and did lots of odd jobs, and he didn't have a full-time profession, he didn't work very often. In 1880 he was living on "Villa nro 5 Daniel is listed as a "workman". They rented probably one room of the villa for the family. He was a fireman in the brigade. The Brigade was formed in January 1885. They were not fully paid, and it was just a side job for every fireman working with the brigade. The paid fire brigade in Kotka has been formed as of January 1885. And the following men will be serving in the fire brigade.

Karlsson, Daniel - workman. He worked under the supervision of fire spray master A. Saarinen. They operated fire spray number 2. He was also a fisherman, like his father. He and his family are living in Norjan saha in 1890 and were sawmill workers. In 1895 Daniel and his wife Kristiina and their sons, Konsta and Hjalmar, were living in Norjan sawmill. Daniel was working as a sawmill worker mostly from 1895 to 1915. It seems Daniel lived in Norjan Saha worker's apartments from 1895 to 1910s. Daniel was a con artist. He was very tall (about 6foot1). He was also very poor and probably had a hard life.
Daniel died in Kotka, Finland on the 16th of April 1924, at his son Hjalmar's house. He was 75. He was the first to use Karlsson as his surname, as Karl was his father, Karls-son. He is buried with his stepdaughter, Liina, and son, Hjalmar, in the Parikka Cemetery. Daniel is my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather.
