MT. CARMEL- Alley Simpson, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Monday (November 14, 2011) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of Mt. View Baptist Church and the Mt. Carmel Senior Center. Mr. Simpson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He worked for McCurry Auto Parts for 23 years and retired from the Ford System after 24 years of service. Alley loved fishing and camping with his family and going to church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Annie Ruth Simpson, two brothers, Elzie Simpson and Willie Simpson, two sisters, Nellie Mae Simpson and Loraine Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nelda Simpson, daughters, Kimberly Skelton and her husband, Gary, Traci Newland and her husband, Jody, grandchildren, Garrett and Grant Skelton, several nieces and nephews, and his granddog, Buddy. Calling hours are from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home of Church Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Trent and Rev. Hagen Webb officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Liberty Hill cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 A.M. to go in procession. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
