PONCA, Neb. | Myrna M. Rahn, 90, of Ponca passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012, while surrounded by her family in Ponca.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, with the Rev. Dr. Bud Christenson officiating. Burial will be in Ponca City Cemetery in Ponca. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Myrna was born in rural Maskell, Neb., on Jan. 4, 1922, the daughter of Gehard P. and Marian S. (Nielsen) Nelson. She attended school in Maskell. She worked at various jobs before working as a waitress at Ray's Café in Ponca, where she met her future husband, Ray.

Myrna married Ray Rahn on July 19, 1950 in Kuntz Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, Neb. After Ray's Café closed, she worked with Ray in his trucking business. The couple also worked as custodians at Salem Lutheran Church and worked on the Altar Guild for the church for many years. Myrna also cleaned cabins at the Ponca State Park and was a caregiver for Dr. A.B. and Gladys Scheffel and Pearl Wellenstein. Ray passed away on Oct. 12, 1990.

Myrna enjoyed cleaning house, refinishing furniture and refurbishing homes. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Myrna was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Maskell, before becoming a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. She was also a member of Salem's Altar Guild and WELCA.

Survivors include one daughter, Teri (Dennis) Lukken of Ponca; two granddaughters, Heather (Steve) Pless and great-granddaughter, Ava of Huntsville, Mo., and Tiffany (Jason) Parks and great-grandson, Kyler of Omaha; brothers and sisters, Dale (Catherine) Nelson of Pender, Neb., Leona Bottorff and Twila (Dick) Taylor of Ponca; brother and sisters-in-law, Elmer Kamrath of Ponca, Mavis Nelson of Maskell, Neb., and Gloria Nelson of Quincy, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Gehard and Marian Nelson; her husband, Ray Rahn; and brothers, sisters and in-laws, Donald (Sylvia) Nelson, Gordon (Lenora) Nelson, Gaylord (Molly) Nelson, Ronald Nelson, Adeline (Hugh) Bostwick, Ramona Kamrath, Garry Nelson and Bob Bottorff.
