Mr. Edward I. Congdon, Sr., 78, of 249 Main Rd., passed away peacefully Thursday, July 26, 2012, in St. Luke's Home. He was born in Palatine on August 28, 1933, the son of the late Nellie Hobin Congdon, and he attended Little Falls schools. He served during the Korean War in the US Air Force and was Honorably Discharged May 20, 1953. He was married to Mary N. Musella on June 22, 1957, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Mary passed away on January 7, 1994. Edward was Manager of the Meat Department for P & C, Little Falls, for many years until his retirement. Ed loved to sing and was a member of several choirs throughout the area and was a member of the UFCW Local 1. Edward is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Tammy I. Congdon, Jr., of Herkimer; his grandchildren, Michelle and Nicole; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Irene and John Maciol, of New York Mills, Helen and Roger Fox, of Rome, Lena and Joseph Kipp, of Steuben, and Myrtle Will, of CA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Irving and Donna Hobin, of Holland Patent, John and Darlene Hobin, of Barneveld, and Larry and Mary Hobin, of Holland Patent; his in-laws, Donald and Ann Musella, of Mohawk; a special nephew, Donald Musella, Jr., and family; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Taulbert and Marion Bell. His funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, with Sister Mary Jo Talman, CSJ, of Blessed Sacrament Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 30, from 4-8 PM at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
