THE LATE R. A. STEWART.
Died, at his home in Strang, Neb., Saturday, July 15, 1911, Robert A. Stewart, aged 57 years, 6 months and 20 days. Mr. Stewart was born in Scott county, Iowa, December 25, 1853, where he lived until 1871. He moved with his parents to Thayer and later to Fillmore county, Nebraska. The greater part of the remainder of his life was spent in Nebraska, except sixteen years spent in California. He returned to Nebraska in 1896. He was married to Miss Matilda Williams of Carleton, Neb., and later to Mrs. Lillian Brown of Strang, Neb.
In his boyhood he united with the Methodist church and remained a member until his death. For some time past his health had been very poor and it was known he probably could never get well. At 2:30 p.m. Saturday he had passed to his reward. Patiently and gently he bore his sufferings. Everything was done to make this life pleasant. His last words were expressive of peace in God.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Rev. Mr. Farley of Shickley officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Hayden of the United Brethren church. Beautiful flowers were in profusion and touching and beautiful music was rendered.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, and aged mother, one sister and a brother and other near relatives and a host of kind friends. W. B. and Arthur Stewart of Pauline, Neb., brother and nephew; Walter Stewart of Rosemont, nephew; Mr. and Mrs. Clern Brown of Fairmont, Mrs. Ralph Meridith of Lawrence, Niece; Mr. and Mrs. N. E. VanBoskirk of Lincoln, Mr. and Mrs. S. Lamb of Geneva, Mrs. Reams and E. G. Bears of Fairmont, Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Brown of Carleton, and Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott of Bruning were among those who came for the funeral.
