RUFING, LAURA LEE Laura was born in San Mateo, California on August 8, 1941 and passed away March 8, 2003 in San Diego where she has resided for 40 years. Survivors include her mother, Patricia Lovette of Oceanside; husband, Robert "Ed" Rufing of Santee; daughters, Sarah Charfauros; Terese "Laura Louise" Douglas of Redwood City; Ginger Orlando of Germany; step daughters, Christina Radney and Carrie Freeman of Bakersfield; sons, Allan Lovette and Steven and Mike McCollum of San Diego; and three sisters, Kathryn, Bessie and Pat. Laura's greatest joy, her grandchildren include Sage and Aeon-Domini of San Diego; Tab and Jessalyn of Bakersfield; Marissa and Matt of Redwood City; and Gina of Germany. She was employed at Sea World's Busch Gardens where she touched many lives with her wisdom and friendship. Laura adored her life with her husband and grandchildren, and surrounded their home with the beauty of her collections. For her it was always Christmas, she reveled in gift giving; gathering presents all year long with childlike anticipation and excitement. She loved taking care of her Koi fishponds and tending to her flower gardens, (fresia's were her favorite) numerous dear and long-standing friendships are a testament to her loving and generous spirit. Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at the Lakeside Santee Funeral Chapel located 9840 Maine Ave, Lakeside, CA 92040 (619) 443-3918 with a reception following.
