Johannes (John) Lodder passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2012. Born December 1, 1919 in Rotterdam, Holland. He was the son of Pieter Lodder and Petronella Maria Van der Giessen. His family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and immigrated to Utah in 1929 when he was nine.
John met his life-long sweetheart, Vivian Lamont at her sister's wedding where he was the best man and she was the maid of honor. They married September 30, 1946; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. This past year they celebrated 65 wonderful years together.
John and Vivian are parents of five children: Judy (Saeed), Jan (Dave), Scott (Sheryl), Lisa (Richard) and John (Jill). He was a wonderful father and grandfather who took a personal interest in each member of his family. He was the owner of Lodder's Automotive in Bountiful for 40 years, working beside his sons and grandsons, retiring in 2002 at the age of 82. John was admired for his honesty and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, brothers, William and Cort and his sister, Toni Kimball. He is survived by his children and his brother, Ron.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where a viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Lakeview Cemetery.
