Traditional Swedish naming convention dictates that children last names use their father's name with either son or dotter after the name. Thus, he was originally named Nilsson after his father (as identified in the baptism record). His father used Holm, which I believe was a farm name. Anders eventually changed his name and began using Holm as well. His children are identified as using Holm Andersdotter, but in the U.S. only used Holm. His wife used the name Boman, which again is probably a farm name. Women in Sweden typically use their maiden name throughout their lives and do not change their name when they get married.
